Ronald Childs

Ronald Childs, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on October 11th, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, 2023, 4:00pm at Eastside Funeral Home Chapel.

Ronald Devel Childs was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Laura Mae Childs and Willie Devel Childs on August 13, 1953. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1972 and did some college at Jefferson State before joining the Coast Guard in 1973-1977 in Seattle, Washington. Later he returned to Birmingham where he would become a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic for Bama Foods from 1979-1996. After leaving there he would go on to be one of the best maintenance mechanics at McWane and U.S. Pipe until retirement. Ronald accepted God at an early age joining Pleasant View Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend St. Barnes. He leaves to cherish his memories five children, Joyce Thomas, Rodriques Files, Pamela Files, Desmond McCurdy (deceased) and Adarius Hicks; two bonus children, Charles Files and Crystal McMiliian; eleven grandchildren, Nakayla Thomas, Cajuan Files, Sr., Zoey Files, Iziyah Files, Aaron Wilson, Iyana Files, Alexandrea Files, Damielle Earl, Damion Earl, Jr., (baby) Vanessa Files, Skylar Files; one great grandchild, Cajuan Files, Jr., with a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
