Mae Willie Cotton

Mae Willie Cotton, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on April 20th, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 29th, 2023, at 11:00am at Mt. Olive Community Church Collegeville with burial at Zion Memorial Gardens.    

Mrs. Mae Willie Harris Cotton, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, born January 18, 1942 in Waverly, Alabama.  She passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

She was the daughter of  Willie James and Minnie Harris.   She attended Parker High School and married the love of her life Mr. Rufus Cotton, Sr. on April 7, 1960.

She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Penfield Baptist Church.  After marriage she joined Mt. Olive Community Church with her husband and was a dedicated and faithful member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie James and Minnie Harris, sister, Shirley Harris and brother, Willie James Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of sixty-three (63) years, Rufus James Cotton, Sr.  Six devoted children, Rufus (Robbye), Russell, Greta Frazier (Frank), John T. (Valleri), Byron (Angela) and James (Shara).

Sixteen grandchildren, Eighteen great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

She also leaves two sisters, Deborah Love and Sharon Thomas.  Five loving sisters-in-laws, Juanita Banks, Sandra Harris, Boncile Hodge, Trunetta Meadows and Annie Lois Rice.  Two brothers-in-laws Phillip George Cotton and Bedford Thomas.
