Mable Rodgers, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on March 14th, 2023. Funeral are scheduled for Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at 11:00am at New Beginning Christian Ministries with burial at Zion Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mable Williams Rodgers was born on October 24, 1938, in Bullock County, Alabama, also known as Midway, Alabama. She attended public schools in Bullock County and was a graduate of Merritt High School. She was united in holy matrimony to her High School sweetheart, Reverend Eligh Rodgers, in November of 1960 on the front porch of her parent’s house. They celebrated sixty-two years of a beautiful marriage. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her four children: Rosemary (Roger) Brown, the late Fredrick Rodgers, the late Eric Rodgers, and Valerie Rodgers; one remaining sister, Mattie P. Burris; ten grandchildren, Rokeia (Eron) Westbrook, Frederice Rodgers, Elecia Willis, Roshunda Hawthorne, Eligh D. Rodgers, Erica Rodgers, Roy Tevin (Sarah) Brown and Roy Darrius Brown; nine great grandchildren, Jalen Westbrook, Gabreyell Averhart, Ziymiya Brown, Jalia Westbrook, Ariyell Averhart, Cordarius Maddox, Khloe Douglas, Kylie Brown and Messiah Averhart and a host of devoted family and friends. With 51 years of membership at First Baptist Church of Zion City, she served as Head of the Junior Usher Board, member of the Senior Usher Board, the Deaconess Board, and a host of other memberships. Most recently, she became an active member of New Beginning Christian Ministry where she served as the “Mother of the Church”. In her spare time, Momma Mable loved fishing, quilting, and loving on everyone she encountered. On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Mrs. Mable William Rodgers passed away at the wonderful and gracious age of eighty-four.
