Janice E. Wright

Janice E. Wright, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on December 4, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00am at Living Stone Church with burial at Oakland Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Janice Elizabeth Wright was the first born to the late Mr. James and Mr. Ruthie Lee Wilson of Birmingham, Alabama. She spent countless hours caring for all her siblings. At an early age, she accepted Christ under the leadership of Reverend Sloan of 46th Street Baptist Church. Later, she moved her membership to Greater Grace Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Carlos Williams. Janice faithfully served on the Usher Board. She was educated in the Birmingham Public School system where she attended Alberta Shields Elementary School and graduated from C. W. Hayes High School. Janice furthered her education at Jefferson State Junior College. Janice enjoyed a rewarding and fulfilling career at the Parliament House, The Hyatt and retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham after twelve years. Her dedicated service earned her numerous awards and accolades. Janice’s life was fulfilling as she lived it with love and value. She never met a stranger and touched many lives and made lots of friends and acquaintances. Janice had a very special love and devotion for her companion, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a great love for all her family. She was very gifted and had a passion for crafting. Preceding Janice in death was her parents, James and Ruthie Le Wilson; her daughter, Vonderria Mixon; her brother, Sterling Davis; a very special son-in-law, Mr. Tyrone Nash; her father and mother-in-law, Jim and Roberta Battle. She leaves to cherish her memory her very devoted, caring and loving companion, George Mabry; her daughter, Predethia Nash; her sons, Menderryl Wright and Dequea, Sr. (Danielle) Wright; stepchildren, Demetrice Mabry, Stephanie Mabry and Eric Mabry, all of Birmingham, AL; her sisters, Carolyn Wilson, Valerie Tremble, Joslyn Wilson, Carmen (Wilbert) Miles, Kimberly Rudolph, Vanessa Young, all of Birmingham, AL and Erica Ashley of Loma Linda, CA; her brother, Herman (Cassandra) Lamb of Birmingham, AL; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Phyllis) Battle, Joe (Towanda) Battle and Emmett (Ernestine) Battle, all of Birmingham, AL; aunts, Bernice Wilson and Lois Felder of Detroit, MI; uncles, Gilbert (Ernestine) Wilson and Andrew Lee (Alberta) Wilson of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, DeShaundre Wright, Quemarco Wright, Santrice Lewis, Trenisha Nickson, Ashley Mike, Jaquice (DeAngelo) Garner, Quemarshea Nickson, Thomas Wright, Patrice Bozeman, Denise Bozeman, Brittany Bozeman, Dequea Wright, Jr., Janiya Wright and Malik Moore; 32 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; special friends, Rhonda Ivey and Veronica and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
