Ire Lee Turk, Sr., a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on November 23, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12:00pm at G.W. Watts School with burial at Albritton Cemetery, Snow Hill, AL.
Ira Lee Turk, Sr., was born on November 3, 1940, to the late Catherine and David Turk, Sr. At an early age he united with St. Paul A. M. E. Church, Snow Hill, Alabama. He would come home often especially for the yearly homecoming to visit until his health began to fail. He received his education at Snow Hill Institute, Snow Hill, Alabama. He was a member and graduate of the Class of 1960. He LOVED sports, namely “Alabama Football.” And his HEART belonged to his grandchildren, whom he adored so much. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bessy Jenkins Turk. To this union four children were born: Mildred, Deloise and Valerie Turk, all of Birmingham, Alabama and Ira Lee Turk, Jr. He was employed by Barber’s Dairy for more than 40 years. On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, Ira Lee made his transition from earth to glory where he exchanged his mortal vestments for a garment of everlasting life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and David Turk; son, Ira Lee Turk, Jr.; great grandson, Deon’Tez Sanders; sisters, Jessie T. (Sammy) Young, Eula C. (Sterling) Harris, Helen T. (Calvin, Sr.) Hughes, Claudia (James) Myers, Ola Mae (Junious) Bonner; brothers, Jasper Turk, David Turk, Jr., and LeRhone Turk; in-laws, Linda and Sam Jenkins; one sisterin-law, Velma Jenkins. He leaves to cherish life precious memories his family which includes his devoted children, Mildred (Kenny), Deloise, and Valerie Turk, all of Birmingham, AL, Dorothy J. Gains of California; devoted grandchildren, La’Teisha Turk of Dallas, GA, Tyshesia Bracey, La’Quita Turk, Jasmin Turk, Cetivious Turk of Birmingham, AL, Anthony Turk, Jimmy Turk, Jermaine Bracey, Jaylin Turk and Melvin Turk of Birmingham, AL; great grandchildren, I’Yana Hunt, Jah’kayla Hinton, Kye’Bria Williams, La’Dale Williams Jr., Aniya Sanders, Lauren Kennedy and Aaliyah Bracey of Birmingham, AL; great great grands, Leilani and Leyla; one dedicated and devoted sister, Emma B. Smith of Birmingham, AL; sisters-in-law, Erma Lee Turk, Eliza Bonner of Snow Hill, AL, Beatrice Turk of Selma, AL, Estelle Turk of Mobile, AL and Hattie Smith of Pascagoula, MS, Percy (Annie) Jenkins of Birmingham, AL, Cornell Jenkins of Snow Hill, AL. Also, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
