Frederick Berry, Jr., a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on August 8th, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, at 11:00am at Doctrinal Bible Studies with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
Frederick “Fred” Douglas Berry, Jr., like his father before, was named after the famed, social reformer, abolitionist, and voting rights pioneer best known for his writings and work in the 1800s. Frederick was born on December 20, 1981, in Birmingham, Alabama. Fred was educated in the Birmingham City School system. Fred confessed his faith at an early age as a member of Groveland Baptist Church. Fred was an outspoken person, active in his community. He was also an avid coin collector. Fred left this world on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Frederick was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Willie Ruth Shepherd; father, Frederick Douglas Berry, Sr; sister, Betina Denise Berry, and brother, Bryant Mason. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Betty J. Berry; brothers, Richard Berry, Courtney Mason, Donnie (Christina) Mason, and Brandon Mason, all of Birmingham, AL; sister, Tara Brooks of Akron, OH; sons, Montavious Spearman and Kendrick Berry; daughters, Za’kayla Dunning, Halle Berry, and Kenya Berry, all of Birmingham, AL; a granddaughter, Serenity Spearman; aunt, Thelma (Anthony) Blevins; uncle, Douglas E. Mason; a special aunt, Willa Davis; a beloved companion, Kisha Sanchez and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
