Earnest L McGhee

Earnest McGhee, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on November 15th, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 25th, 2023, at 11:00am at Groveland Baptist Church with burial at Zion Memorial Gardens.

Earnest Lee McGhee was born March 10, 1942 in Lowndes County, AL to Alberta and Willie McGhee.  He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred McGhee and John Arthur McGhee, one sister, Ida Bell McGhee and one granddaughter, Miriam Moorer.

He departed this life on November 15, 2023 and left to cherish the memories are his loving wife, Jessie McGhee; five sons, Antonio McGhee, Kevin McGhee, Christopher McGhee and Derrick Carr, all of Birmingham, AL and Roy Moorer of Belle Glade, FL; two daughters, Michelle (James) Abrams and Aletha (Tony) Reynolds; eight granddaughters, Kiera Pelt, Courtni (Nigal) Mack and Patricia Watson all of Birmingham, AL; Kavona McGhee of Mobile, AL; Trenesha Washington and Nekyria Washington of Atlanta, GA; Brittany Ward and Jaquitta Ward of Belle Glade, FL; two grandsons, Kealon Baker of Birmingham, AL and Roy Ward Jr. of Belle Glade, FL; two great-grandsons, Demetrius Thurman and Kyriea Baker of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Willie Lee Crenshaw and Hattie Savage of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, his twin Lee Earnest (Sandra) McGhee of Birmingham, AL and Pastor Willie James (Janie) McGhee of Jamaica, NY; four sisters-in-law, Ruby McGhee and Louise Holmes of Birmingham, AL; Bessie Leonard and Shirley Leonard of Rockford, AL; and a host of other devoted in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss him dearly.
