Dorothy Means, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life on March 14, 2020 to eternal rest. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Galilee Baptist Church with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
Dorothy Battle was born April 24,1933 in Talladega, Alabama to the late Sinnie and Stone Walter Battle. She was a graduate ofRosedale High School, Homewood, Alabama. Dorothy accepted Christ in her life and was a member of Gallilee Missionary Baptist Church of Norwood.Throughout her life she was a devoted sister to her siblings. Dot (as she was called by everyone), was heaven sent and would help anyone.She was married to the late Woodrow Means, Sr. Dot departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, she was was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Faye Means; two sisters, Countess Juana Felder and Ruth Benson; brothers, John Van Crossand Walter Franklin Battle and special friends,Johnny and Sammy Serio. Dot is survived by two sons, Robert Battle (Mary) and Woodrow Means (Tina); one brother, DeLeon Battle (Sandra) of Southfield, Michigan;
Sallie Matthews of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Maybelline Battle Lanier; two special daughters, Terri Bardine and Jacqueline Larussa (Anthony); a special son, Charles Serio (Janet); a host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
