David Jackson, Sr.

David Jackson, Sr., a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life on September 15,2022 to eternal rest. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:00am at Graveside at Oakland Memorial Gardens.

David Leon Jackson was born on December 25, 1953, to the late Mr. Willie Jackson, Sr. and Lois Jackson in Irondale, Alabama. David Leon confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor J. P. Parnell. He was educated in the Jefferson County School system. After leaving Shades Valley High School, he was employed by Holiday Inn, as a Bell Boy. Later, he started driving the Hotel Van transporting hotel guests back and forth to the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport. He drove for the Yellow Cab Company for years, as well as the Magic City Cab Company and was employed at Village Spirits in Irondale, Alabama. The thing he loved most, was working on lawn mowers. After a long illness, he came off work on disability. He married Doris Webb of Birmingham, Alabama. To this union was born a baby boy, David Jackson, Jr. On September 15, 2022, he was called to his heavenly home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willie Jackson, Sr.; mother, Mrs. Lois Jackson and three brothers, Willie, Pelvin and Melvin Jackson, all of Birmingham, Alabama. He leaves to cherish his memories, a son, David, Jr. Leon (Tonia) Jackson; three grandchildren, Shadavia, Tamera and Amiyah Jackson, all of Birmingham, AL; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Gaines, Mrs. Barbara Floyd and Mrs. Carol (Mike) Parker, all of Birmingham, AL; sisters-in-law, Maria Jackson, Mildred Jackson of Birmingham, AL, Geraldine Jackson of Warrior, AL and Elnora Jackson of Trussville, AL; two special nieces that he loved dearly, Asia and Davilyn Malcolm of Birmingham, AL; a host of other nieces and nephews, Kenny (Tonia) Jackson of Georgia, Corey (Vanessa) of Trussville, AL, Wanda (David) of Birmingham, AL, Telisa Willis of Birmingham, AL, Tajuana (Derick) Durden of North Carolina, Ladeia Jackson of Birmingham AL, Haronda Jackson, Yovette Jackson, Yolanda Jackson of Birmingham, AL, Pelvin Jackson, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Randretta Rincher of Birmingham, AL, Reginald Gardner of Birmingham, AL, Amaria Jones of Birmingham, AL, Tara Jackson of Birmingham, AL and a host of other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.
