Carolyn Rembert, a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life to eternal rest on August 13th, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 11:00am at Eastside Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oakland Memorial Gardens. Carolyn Jean Rembert was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 6, 1955, to Milton and Leola Shell. She grew up loving Christ and received him as her Savior. She was also an alto in the choir at Mt. Zion Church in East Thomas, Alabama where she was a member. She married William Gray in 1975 and had two wonderful children whom she raised with such great joy and honor. Though she had a stable life, she wanted more and went to UAB and Walden University to get her degree in Education. She received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education. With this, she taught at Hayes Middle School in Birmingham, Alabama. Things don’t always go as you expect in life and with life changes, Carolyn Jean Rembert moved to New York and worked in the New York school system and took a chance at marriage again and married Richard Rembert. She eventually moved back to Birmingham, Alabama after the passing of her husband, Richard Rembert. Carolyn Jean Rembert joined Kingdom Builders Church under the care of Pastor Milton Wren. Carolyn Jean Rembert fought a good fight and left this earth in faith and went back to the Heavenly Father knowing that she has eternal life. She was preceded in death by her dad, Milton Shell; sister, Rosemary Fisher and husband Richard, Rembert. Carolyn Jean leaves to cherish her memory a loving mother, Leola Steward; two loving children, Antonio (Dianna) Gray and Sherida (Raymond) Kirksey of Birmingham, AL; stepmother, Diana Shell of Birmingham, AL; sister, Yvonne (Wallace) Smith of Richmond, VA; brothers, Bishop Dexter T. (Emma) Shell, Sr. of Forrest Home, AL, Larry Shell, Terry Wright and Milton Shell, Sr.; sister, Angela Ball, all of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren, Antoinette Gray, Angel Gray, Anitrus Gray, Antoria Gray, Aniya Gray, Quinton Shell, Jordan Kirksey, Brittany Kirksey of Birmingham, AL and Roderick Shell of Fairbanks, AK; seven great grandchildren and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
