Abraham Williams, Jr.

Abraham Williams, Jr., a resident of Birmingham, AL departed this life on September 12, 2018.Mr. Abraham Williams, Jr. was born January 15, 1941 to the late Fannie and Abraham Williams, Sr.  He was the fourth child of seven children, and was educated at Thomas Elementary and Ullman High School in Birmingham, Alabama. “Scopie” (as he was so affectionately called), was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Linda, on March 26, 1976.  He confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined New Hope Baptist Church where he served and remained a faithful member for over 42 years.  Abraham was also employed for 42 years with Meadow Smith Enterprise which was later named Park Properties. Abraham was extremely passionate and dedicated to his family.  For years, he took great pride in serving in ministry by driving the church van.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching Alabama Football and also the Boston Celtics.  To know him was to love him, and if you truly knew him, you can attest to the fact that though he was soft-spoken, he possessed a heart of gold, and a spirit of true humility. Those who preceded him in death were his loving mother and father(Abraham and Fannie Williams), three brothers-Willie, Jimmie, and Wayne, sister-Betty, sons- William Earl and Eddie, and grandson-Mandrell.Loved ones who will forever cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Linda; three sons- Ronnie, Dedrick, and Abraham III; daughter- Ava; two sisters- Geneva Fuller and Catherine Harrell; two sisters-in-law- Geraldine Morgan and Gloria Benson (Anderson, IN); one brother-in-law- Maurice Benson (Birmingham, AL); thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, long-time friend- Mr. Frances Beville, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church West End with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
