Karla (Pope) Miller

Karla Lawanas Pope-Miller, 47, of Birmingham, AL, died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 15, 1970, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the prior of Michael D. Johnson and Yolande B. Johnson.

Karla Pope-Miller is preceded in death Michael D. Johnson (Father), Justin D. Oliver Jr.(Grandchild), Roberta Wood (Grandmother), Simon Pope Jr. (Grandfather), Teresa Pope-Pritchett (Aunt).

Karla attended Powell elementary and graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, Alabama. In her spare time she enjoyed music, hosting family events, spending time with her family, friends and children. Her true passion in life was spreading love through her cooking. She was a faithful member at Full Gospel Fellowship Church, where she served until her death.

She is survived by her husband J.C. Miller, 3 children Karmesia Pope, Donald (Kara) Pope, and Julius Miller, and 2 grandchildren Jamarion Pope and Donald Jr Pope. Mother Yolanda (Jimmy) Johnson, Siblings Marcus (Angela) Pope, Natasha (Robbie) Riley, Mylande (Sylvester) Hundley, Special siblings Marlon (Raketa) Pritchett, Landriss (Reginald) Story, Tamara (Llewellyn) Robinson, Colbert Pritchett, uncles Monte (Denise) Pope, John Pope, Jim (Thelma) Pope, Charles (Angie) Pope, Simon Pope III, Greg Johnson, Joseph (Sandy) Johnson, aunts Veronica Pope, Jerelyn Pope, Rita Johnson, Tonya (Tony) Thomas, 8 nieces and 8 nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
